Certified OEM Parts
Using certified OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts ensures your vehicle will perform as intended and maintain its resale value.
We can say this with complete confidence because OEM parts are subject to rigorous quality control standards and designed to meet the exact specifications of your car or truck. Additionally, you’ll have peace of mind because many of Bemac’s certified OEM parts come with a warranty that protects against cover defects or failures.
Under certain circumstances (or upon request), we are also able to use next-to-new or refurbished parts. If we believe a used part will offer the same level of quality as a new part, we’ll share all available options with you.
New vs. Used Car Parts
There are a number of factors to consider when deciding between new or used auto parts.
How quickly will the part wear out? New parts are the way to go if you need to replace a part that wears out quickly (like windshield wipers or brake pads). On the other hand, some used parts in excellent condition (transmissions and certain body parts, for example) have a long life span, making them an ideal option.
What is the age of your vehicle? If your car or truck is considerably older, you may not want to invest in new parts that could last longer than the vehicle will. However, if it is new, new parts are definitely a wise investment.
What is your budget? If unexpected repairs are outside your budget, speak to a Bemac automotive expert about your options; we often stock high-quality used or refurbished parts.
Do you want a comprehensive warranty? New parts typically come with better warranties than used parts do.
Do you need a hard-to-find part? If you own a less common model car or truck, used parts may be difficult or impossible to find, making new parts the only viable option.
Types of Car Parts We Commonly Replace
High-quality auto parts and components from Bemac will extend the life of your vehicle and keep it running smoothly for years to come. Some car and truck parts frequently need to be replaced; these include (but are not limited to) the following:
Brake pads need to be replaced every 50,000-70,000 kilometres because, over time, friction causes the material to wear down, reducing the effectiveness of your vehicle’s braking system.
A battery should be replaced every 3-5 years when its ability to hold a charge declines, reducing performance or causing the battery to die.
Tires should be replaced every 50,000-100,000 kilometres when you see worn down tread or experience reduced grip. Rims require replacement when corrosion or damage is detected—approximately every 5-10 years. (We can thank our Ottawa winters and the salt on our roads for that!)
We recommend oil filters be replaced every time the oil is changed; otherwise, they become clogged with debris and can no longer remove contaminants that harm the engine. Dirty air filters should be replaced every 20,000-40,000 kilometres as they reduce airflow and overall performance.
To avoid misfires and other ignition problems, spark plugs typically need to be replaced every 30,000-100,000 kilometres.
A replacement alternator may be needed at the 100,000-150,000 kilometre mark to address electrical problems, including battery effectiveness.
Depending on usage and quality, wiper blades may need to be replaced every 6-18 months.
Drive and timing belts are critical to the proper functioning of a car or truck’s engine system and should be monitored periodically. A drive belt will need replacement every 60,000-120,000 kilometres, and the timing belt should be changed every 80,000-160,000 kilometres.
Regular use and exposure to heat can wear out pumps responsible for circulating fluids inside a vehicle’s engine. Depending on the make and model of your car, you may need to replace a fuel pump every 160,000-240,000 kilometres, and the water pump every 100,000-150,000 kilometres.
Headlights, taillights, and brake lights—all essential for safety and visibility—burn out, and lenses can become cracked or cloudy. These should be replaced any time a problem arises.
Depending on your wear and tear and the quality of the parts, your car’s suspension components (such as shocks, struts, and bushings) may need replacement every 80,000-160,000 kilometres.
